Colorado Springs, CO – The Broadmoor World Arena was host of round one of the 2024 EnduroCross season. The FactoryONE Sherco team came away with great results. Cooper Abbott picked up where he left off in 2023 with a p3 podium finish. Supported amateur rider Coran Calvert finished p1 in the junior category. Cody Webb is recovering from off-season knee and wrist surgeries and was unable to race.

Round one kicked off with the traditional hot lap for the top eight in the EX Pro class. Abbott would finish with a time of 34:01 giving him the fourth gate pick for moto number one.

The track was tight and technical which would allow for some intense racing on the night. That became apparent at the drop of the gate for moto one. Abbott would be shoulder to shoulder with a pack of riders coming into the first corner. He would be able to sneak through into the third spot behind Dominic Olszowy and defending champion Trystan Hart. After the first long rhythm section he would make his way into the second spot. He would go back and forth with Olszowy for half of the moto before a mistake in the rock garden would see Colton Haaker through. Abbott would finish p4 for the moto.

EnduroCross is famous for having its reverse order starting grid for moto two. This meant that the top eight riders line up behind the bottom eight riders from moto one. Abbott would have the fourth last pick but he chose wisely. At the drop of the gate, he was able to push his way through to fourth place as they entered the first long rhythm section. By the end of lap three, he would move up to second place. He would ride consistently but a hard-charging Trystan Hart would ultimately take the spot away just before the finish of the moto. Abbott would finish p3 for the moto.

A podium finish was in sight for Abbott as the riders lined up for the third and final moto of the night. At the gate drop, Abbott would blast out on his Sherco SE 300 Factory tying Jonny Walker for the hole shot but Hart, Haaker, Will Riordan, and Ryder Leblond were also packed in right on their rear wheels. Abbott would fall in behind Walker for the first half of the race. A costly mistake in the log matrix would see him lose three positions. Another small mistake less than a quarter lap later would see him in sixth position where he would ultimately finish the moto. This was good enough to secure p3 in the overall.

In the junior class, seventeen-year-old Coran Calvert was able to battle for the win in class. He and Niko Piazza put on a show for the crowd as they banged bars for the majority of the race. In the end, it was Calvert who finished p1 as time expired.

Calvert also competed in the EX Intermediate class where he finished p4.
